 5 Items for 5 Tasks in 5 Days

A Daily Method of Operation is crucial in building a sustainable business and even more so when building a business on social media.  Every business operates by following some sort of DMO or checklist.  Do you use checklists? Do you operate daily by following a checklist?  I start each day by going over a priority list of things that must be done for that day. I also have a notepad at my desk that I constantly jot things down on so I don’t forget. It’s easy to get wrapped up in a project, sucked into the scroll mode or completely feel overwhelmed by seeing a long list of things that need your attention. 

The truth is there are a lot of things most of us should be doing daily, but we avoid them like the plague. We are scared of what people will say, think or even how they may act toward us.  Let’s face the facts, those “people” don’t pay your bills!  If you want to grow your business, you must put in the work and consistently following a DMO is the simpliest way to achieve success. 

There are several DMO’s out there and there is not one better than the other. You have to find the one that best fits you, your business needs, your industry and your level of commitment. 

After being in this industry as long as I have, I have used, tweaked, changed and redone my DMO many times. It is all a learning process. Today, I am going to share with you the DMO that works for me. I call it the Unicorn DMO! It is a simple guide to build a business in the direct selling world. If you are in the party planning business, build a business using social media and/or sell products directly to your consumers, the Unicorn DMO is just what you need. 

I like to start my new Unicorn DMO users with the 5-5-5 method. 5 Items for 5 Tasks in 5 Days. This gives you a foundation to begin building your business. 

Here’s the tasks...

  • CONTENT – Create 5 Pieces of Content

  • CONTACTS – Make 5 New Contacts

  • INVITE – Invite 5 People to Take a Look

  • FOLLOW UP – Follow Up With 5 Prospects

  • ENGAGEMENT – 5 Minutes of Engagement

CREATE 5 PIECES OF CONTENT

Create and post 5 pieces of content on social media.  Posts may be on your timeline, other platforms, as a LIVE and/or in groups. Post inspirational, entertaining, educational or lifestyle posts. Rule of thumb is to post morning, afternoon and evening.


MAKE 5 NEW CONTACTS

Make 5 new contacts or friends per day and open the door to conversation. Always be expanding your network. Meet new people in person or online and chat with them.  Groups are a great place to interact & meet new people.  These contacts are NOT prospects.  You are simply expanding your network and meeting new people.


INVITE 5 PEOPLE TO TAKE A LOOK

Invite 5 people to look at your product or opportunity. Whether it is asking someone to join an opportunity event, a party or to watch a presentation/opportunity video, simply asking is all you need to do. Don’t overthink it and focus on the task, not the result. The more you do this, the easier it gets.


FOLLOW UP WITH 5 PROSPECTS

Follow up with any 5 people. These may be customers, prospects or new friends. This can be done by messenger, text, phone or email.  Use the 80/20 rule only speaking about the products or opportunity 20% of the time and doesn't have to be introducing it to them but generally referencing it.


5 MINUTES OF ENGAGEMENT

Set a timer and spend 5 Minutes engaging with your network.  You may go into groups (not business), your newsfeed, watch stories or use lists (smartest) and knock out a solid 5 minutes of liking, commenting and engaging with your network.  TIP: Click LOVE instead of just like as it holds more weight in the algorithms.


FINAL NOTES

These are all bare minimums.  If you have more time to work your business for the day, dig deeper, do more and really make connections with people.  This is a numbers game and the more people you speak to, the faster you will grow.  I wish you luck and I would love to hear feedback on how this worked for you.


UPON COMPLETION
