Angry Love
/Parents of teenagers understand this all too well! Loving our children even when we are angry is the norm on a daily basis! I have to say, it truly reveals your true heart in times of despair. In order to hold a teenager as they cry over something they did to get into trouble is tough. It shows forgiveness. It shows mercy! Can you imagine being so angry that you couldn’t hold your child while they hurt? Imagine if God didn’t hold us as we hurt? If He just walked away in anger when we needed Him most? It’s the toughest thing to do as a parent, but it truly reveals God through our actions!
“Be Merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” Luke 6:36
Remember that even through the darkness…our own disobedience, our Heavenly Father is merciful! You too must show mercy! Does this mean we aren’t angry? No! Does it mean what our child does is acceptable? No! What it does mean is that we are an image of God and must act that way! I will leave you with this…
Colossians 3:21 —
“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” (KJV)
“Parents, don’t come down too hard on your children or you’ll crush their spirits.” (MSG)
